POLYAREA: Area of a shape

1. Enter the bearings and distances of your shape using the CLOSURE program. These should be in degrees, minutes and seconds.

2. Run the POLYAREA program to display the area of the shape.

Warning: Does NOT Consider Arcs

This program does NOT currently account for arcs (it will only follow the chord). If you want to calculate the area including arcs, first get the area using this program, and then add or subtract the area of each arc.

The area of an arc can be obtained via the SURVARC program.

Tip

You don’t need to enter the final side of the shape. The final side (or any misclose in the shape) will be calculated automatically.
